Robyn Rihanna Fenty , NH, NH[2] (/ri'aen@/ (listen) REE-AN -@;[3][4][n 1] was born on 20th February 1988) is a Barbadian actress, singer, and businesswoman. Rihanna was born in Saint Michael, Barbados and was raised in Barbados. She was a candidate for Evan Rogers, an American record producer, who requested her to make demo tapes in United States. She was signed to Def Jam in 2005 and quickly became a household name with the release of her debut two studio album, Music of the Sun (2005), as well as A Girl Like Me (2006). Both were influenced Caribbean music and made it to the top ten spots on the US Billboard 200 charts. Good Girl Gone Bad, Rihanna's third album was influenced by dance music. It made her an icon of sex in the music industry. Rihanna's first Grammy Award was won for her smash single "Umbrella", which catapulted Rihanna into international fame. The next album she released was Rated R (2009) and Loud (2010) and Talk That Talk (2011) and Unapologetic (2012) she continued to mix R&B with pop and dance genres. The final album was the first time she reached Billboard 200 number 1. A number of chart-topping singles came out from the albums such as "Rude Boy", ("Only Girl in the World")", and "What's My Name?" ", "S&M", "We discovered love", "Where Have You Been" and "Diamonds". The album she released on her eighth, Anti (2016), featured a brand new control of her creativity after her departure from Def Jam. The album reached number two in the US and also featured "Work" which is her chart-topping single. Rihanna has been in close contact with a variety of artists throughout her musical career. Rihanna, who has sold more than 250,000,000 records across the globe, is the second-best selling female artist in the world of music. She has scored 14 number-ones and 31 top ten singles in the US and 30 top-ten entries in the UK. Her accolades include nine Grammy Awards, 13 American Music Awards (including the Icon Award), 12 Billboard Music Awards, six Guinness World Records, the NAACP's President's Award, and an Academy Award nomination. Time classified her as one of the top 100 most influential individuals worldwide in 2012and 2018. Forbes listed her among the top 10 highest-paid celebrities in 2012/2014.
